Installing the View Agent on the Parent VM
Ifitisnotalreadypresent,youmustinstalltheViewAgentontheParentVMtoallow
theViewConnectionServertocommunicatewiththedesktopclonescreatedfromthe
baseimage.
To install View Agent
1Runthefollowingexecutableontheguestsystem,wherexxxxxxisthebuild
numberofthefile:
VMware-viewagent-xxxxxx.exe
2WhentheVMwareInstallationwizardappears,clickNext.
3AccepttheVMwarelicensetermsandclickNext.
4 Selectyourcustomsetupoptions.YoumustinstalltheViewComposerAgent.
Youcanalsoselectordeselectthefollowingfeatures:
Ifyouwanttoallowuserstodownloadacopyoftheirvirtualdesktopsfrom
theViewConnectionServerforuseonalocalcomputersuchasalaptop,
installtheOfflineDesktopcomponent.
OfflineDesktopisnotsupportedwithvSphere4.OfflineDesktopisan
experimentalfeature.Referto“System
Requirements”onpage 14formore
informationaboutexperimentalfeatures.
IfvirtualdesktopusersneedtoaccesslocallyconnectedUSBdeviceswith
theirvirtualdesktops,installtheUSBRedirectioncomponent.
Ifyouwanttoenablesinglesign‐on(SSO),installtheViewSecure
Authenticationcomponent.
Ifenabled,whenuserslogintoViewClienttheyarenotpromptedtore‐enter
theirauthenticationinformationtologintotheirvirtualdesktops.
Ifyouwanttoenableuserstoprinttoanyprinteravailabletotheirclient
systemswithoutfirstinstallingadditionaldriversontheirvirtualdesktops,
installtheVirtualPrintingcomponent.See“VirtualPrinting”onpage 117.
